The irregular constitution that the No. 37 regular meeting included a table topic workshop today. The wide meeting place was full with many members and guests.
TM. H, TMOE, controlled the meeting very well by accurate procedure and by remembering the yesterday’s train trouble thunderstorm caused, the president gave the tips "The importance of good control” It addressed meaningful message to us in stead of “Word of The Evening”.
There was explanation of table topic contest in this autumn and how the contest will proceed. After that, a table topic workshop was held by 33 area governors. He talked about a method of technique and the progress of the table topic with his own experience. In spite of short time, his advice was to the point. We found the importance of finding topics every time and thinking topics when other is pointed.
Thanks to the workshop, there were superior table topics peach both in Japanese and English. In the English session, a table topic master showed a national flag and toastmasters spoke with regard to the country the flags showed. It was unique idea. In addition, in the topic of summer vacation, one toastmaster’s speech was very impressive. She is planning to visit women’s association in Kenya in this summer vacation.
In prepared speech session, TM. W proposed contribution to globalization of Japan starting with tiny thing and TM. K spoke what he thought traveling in Japan. Both speakers showed advancement in front of audience. We think speech is broadened and deepened by what the speaker think in his life and how it is given as well.
In all speeches that I heard today including the table topic, there were many deep contents. Each personality was respected and we are reassured that toastmasters is precious plase to learn communication skill.
The 36th meeting was held by good preparation of our club’s superstar “TM. I” and the Word of The Evening was “Delightful”. The meeting was started with premonition that something delightful was going to happen.
The table topic session was brought by TM. W. The subject was about Olympics of past, present and future.
In Japanese session, a new member TM. I tackled the icebreakers speech. His title was “The Gap” He spoke about his “gap” and how to cope with it with lots of humor. We might thing we have the most promising toastmaster!
In English session, we have two speech. First speech was brought by TM. F who was veteran of toastmaster’s world. Her speech title was “Champion of champions” It was meant to congratulate Mr. A on winning world champion in advance.
And then next speech was brought by TM. A who was champion of Speech Competition in Japan this year. He prepared speech for International Competition in this August in Calgary, Canada. We luckily listened to it in advance. His speech was so divine and we even felt happiness to hear such a wonderful and meaningful message. Needless to say, the goal of toastmaster is to advancement of speech ability, but good speech itself has a strong message, which becomes power and wisdom of audience life. And the evaluator was Ms. K who was Japanese Evaluation Competition. Mr. A!! Good luck on World Speech Competition and show your “Yamato damashii”!!
Today’s meeting was fruitful and joyful. Though it is hot these days, let’s practice speech learning by doing.
First meeting of TITMC in 2008- 2009 year was held on July 9th at Ohimachi Curian.
Started by New president Ms N’s call to order, it was more “priceless” than usual.
Thank you, TM. W, for taking a role of TMOE. It was considerable and calm. We are looking forward to your further advancement.
Thank you, TM. I, for taking a role of Table Topic Master. We found you made our eye wide-open
with your opening speech. We are looking forward to your next Table Topic too.
In English Session, there were two speeches. First TM M told about learning foreign language citing her experience in Canada. Then, TM. T told also her experience in India, which was social issue. Two of them spoke very calmly. Very impressive! After all, speaker’s experience draws attention of audience. Anyway their speech was international. That is Tokyo international Toastmasters Club, isn’t that?
In Japanese session, TM. Z gave us very “precious” speech. It was very impressive. Please tell us when repeat of “the word of magic” make millraces!
TM.U also gave very interesting speech, which was recent social issue “vending machine”. He did very elaborate research and study. We wish there was “Speech Vending Machine”!
Also evaluators were very impressive. Especially TM. IK and TM YM gave some model evaluation.
We are looking forward to their next turns!
The 34th meeting which was the last one of present period started with “The word of this evening”, “Akarui(bright)” which was presented TM K and this was his first time to take this role.
We had two ice-breaker speeches.
First one was made by TM W. Her speech tile was “Change” and she spoke the story that she used her biter experiences as a springboard and changed her life. TM’s experience must become a trigger of her favorable change
The second speaker was TM Y who was an experienced speaker. “Motenai Katana (Sword unable to grab)” All the audience excited to listen to his speech about his life, from secret of his birth
until current situation. His speech was impressing with not only its dramatic story but also his vocal variety and gesture.
In English part, we had a big table topic session. 9 guests and a member made a impromptu speech in line with a topic provided by Table topic master. Anyhow, thanks TM I as the Table topic master, for giving 10 topics. It is so tough
In last part, an inaugural ceremony was taken place. New period starts July in TM. Thank you very much, former president TM F and all the members who built up this club.
We will keep our meetings filled with joy and learning opportunities. Come to join us!
President Fujiyama opened the meeting at 7pm sharp and made her opening remark to the audience of about 15 people. Her remark was remarkable as she packaged greeting, short but interesting story about her recent trip, announcement of future activities, and guests introduction in less than 5minutes. Talk about time management!! Another remarkable thing was the table topic session in which the day’s TT master Kamayama audaciously appointed three guests. And all of them spoke well! What a great challenge for the TT master and future members!
Another impressive thing worth noting was the quality of evaluation. All evaluators, TM’s A. Takahashi, Iwama, Zentoku, and Nakaaki pointed out speakers’ positive and strong speaking assets and gave suggestions for improvement. I had a feeling that all speakers were empowered by their comments and wanted to try a speech again in the near future
Last but not least, the entire meeting progressed in a cordial atmosphere I believe due to the members willingness to use humor to add light and personable touch in their speeches.
Overall, the meeting was quite successful and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see more people join our club if we keep on delivering a quality meeting like this one!!
